Hair Restoration Q & A

What is hair restoration?

Hair restoration, also known as hair transplant surgery, is a cosmetic procedure used to restore hair to areas of your scalp that have thinning hair or are bald. At Advanced Robotic Hair Restoration Centers, patients can also undergo hair restoration to address thinning facial hair and eyebrows.

There are several different types of hair restoration, including:

  • Hair transplantation
  • Flap surgery
  • Tissue expansion of the scalp
  • Scalp reduction surgery

The type of hair restoration you most benefit from depends on the underlying cause of your hair loss and your goals for treatment. You might even benefit from a combination of two or more treatments.

Who is a good candidate for hair restoration?

If you’re starting to bald or you have thinning hair, and you have healthy hair growth on the back or sides of your head, you’re probably a good candidate for hair restoration.

To qualify for hair restoration, you need at least some hair to serve as donor areas. Donor areas are portions of your scalp that provide grafting or flap material.

It’s important you also have realistic expectations. Hair restoration won’t cause your natural hair to grow back, and it isn’t for everyone. If you’re completely bald or have very little hair, you’ll likely benefit from another type of treatment.

What is the ARTAS iX™ robotic hair restoration system?

The ARTAS iX robotic hair restoration system uses real-time 3D analysis to map and calculate critical hair follicle statistics necessary for successful graft harvesting. This cutting-edge technology ensures prime harvesting conditions and effective, long-lasting results.

ARTAS robotic hair implants blend in with your surrounding hair, making them completely undetectable. You can return to work or other normal activities and feel confident that no one will know you’ve had a hair transplant.

What happens during hair restoration treatment?

During hair restoration treatment, your Advanced Robotic Hair Restoration Centers provider removes a series of small punch grafts from the hair-bearing areas of your scalp using the ARTAS iX robotic hair restoration system.

Next, your provider relocates each graft to an area of balding or thinning hair. Each graft is a different size or shape and tailored to your unique goals for treatment. Your provider makes a series of surgical incisions and places each graft. Following surgery, you return home to recover. It usually takes a period of several months and a series of treatments to achieve your desired fullness.
